Underground Resistance is the name of one of the pioneer groups in what is known as Detroit techno. They made music based on politically charged resistance towards the oppression of big corporations and merciless capitalism, which was leaving the city in decay. The song came out as a more bouncy New York House-kinda thing, but the song echoes the inspiration from UR: our need to think and actfreely, and own the lives we live. Perhaps becoming more difficult by the day as the social media giants steer and lead our thinking and attention towards maximum consumption.

Lyrics

Helo

What is this really all about

I wish I was a another kind of man much better

So much more

Higher pay, I keep on working

There´s so many things they say I should be getting

All this time the river runs and dry dry dries out

You gotta do what you need to do

You need to say what you gotta to say

You wanna think what you need to think

In Detroit it´s done this way

< Living in Detroit >

Why should I care what they say about me

Need to climb higher, need to be this this this

And now it´s all I have

You gotta do what you need to do

You need to say what you gotta to say

You wanna think what you need to think

In Detroit it´s done this way
